Two people were yesterday charged in court with rape and luring a victim for sexual exploitation.

The first accused, Abdirizak Adan Abdul, was accused of raping a university student on March 20 at South C's Mugoya Estate in Lang'ata, Nairobi County.

Alternatively, Abdul was accused of committing an indecent act with an adult.

In the second count of malicious damage of property, the accused is said to have damaged the victim’s mobile (IPhone 8) valued at Sh40,000.

The second accused, Faith Washiali Bwibo, was accused of unlawfully and knowingly transporting the victim for the purposes of sexual exploitations by means of deception.

The two denied the charges before Kibera magistrate Esther Boke through their lawyer who requested that they be released on lenient bond terms.

However, the complainant’s lawyer Amazon Koech objected to the application, saying that Abdi was a dangerous man to girls in society.

It is claimed that on the material day around 2pm, the complainant received a call from her friend Faith inviting her to "go out with other friends" at around four 4pm.

According to the prosecution, the complainant told Faith to go ahead with another friend since she needed to seek permission before she could join them later.

When they met later, the accused requested the complainant and her friend to take them somewhere as she wanted to see someone and the three went together.

The accused identified a car and when they approached it, they found Abdul. The complainant remembered how she had heard Faith talk to him on phone occasionally.

Afterward, they proceeded to Abdulz’s house in South CE where he is said to have committed the offense.

The victim sought treatment and the matter was reported to the police who arrested Abdul and Faith last Friday.

The Magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned on April 9 for a ruling on bail applications.
