The race for Nairobi governorship seat has heightened with the entrance of Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.

Wanjiru becomes the first woman to declare interest in the governorship position in the region.

While making her announcement, Wanjiru reiterated that after intense prayers and wide consultations she deemed it fit to contest the post on an ODM ticket.

“I have prayed and widely consulted both spiritually and politically and I believe with the whole of my heart that this decision I have taken, is well informed and within God’s agenda for the future of this nation,” stated Wanjiru amid cheers and jubilations from her supporters.

Bishop Wanjiru of Jesus Is Alive Ministries took the opportunity to make public her intensions during Sunday’s church service, disclosing that she received many phone calls ahead of the revelation.

“Many called me, urging me to declare my stand. They maintained that they won’t mind on which party but I should bank on their support for the seat,” she disclosed.

The Church broke down in songs, dance and praises following her pronouncements, as they urged her on.

In reference to Jeremiah 30:20 which read in part “And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governorship shall proceed from the midst of them,” Wanjiru remained optimistic she will triumph.

“Today, am making it official, I will be vying for the Nairobi governor’s position on an ODM ticket,” she said.

The housing assistant minister sought to set records straight and bring to end speculations on, which party ticket she will advance her aspirants.

“I will contest on an ODM ticket. As a woman leader battling with dozen of men for the same position, I am seeking for prayers and support,” she conceded.

She also said at a later date, she will be outlining her agenda and vision for the county.

“I will seek to address the many challenge facing the people and the solutions my leadership will offer,” she promised, adding that Nairobi problems are unique and can only be solved by hands on approach to leadership.

She continued, “I believe I offer the brightest and most prosperous future for the county and the country as a whole.”

ODM aspirants are braising for a titanic battle to clinch the ticket ODM to become governor.

Wanjiru joins Evans Kidero and Philip Kisia in the race.

Surprisingly her competitor Kisia and Reuben Ndolo were present during her announcement.

“My competitor has gathered a lot of courage to celebrate with me when am making my announcement,” she acknowledged.
