Pastor prays for 100 'thieves'

A seventh day Adventist pastor recently shocked a church congregation at Tumaini Church when he said he wanted to pray for thieves who were amongst the faithful.

Pastor Joshua Njuguna said the church of God was full of thieves who had continuously stolen from their employers and from God. The pastor made these remarks as he wound up a camp meeting for Tumaini, Saika and Dorks SDA churches in Dandora/Kayole District of Nairobi.

After divine service, pastor Njuguna instructed the church elders to clear a corner of the people who were seated on the ground so that it remained spacious.

The pastor then made a call on anyone who knew that he/she was a thief. He explained that these thieves had continued in their evil acts and the police could not apprehend them as they did not have witnesses. The pastor said that the police had also not been able to arrest them because there was no complainant.

He said anyone who had not kept the Sabbath holy by engaging in their own worldly leisure or any social and economic activities qualified to be called a thief. Others he said had stolen working hours from their employers by engaging in their own personal activities, and as such, they were also thieves.

To the amazement of the churchgoers, about 100 people stood from their seats, one by one and moved to the corner from where the pastor prayed for them.
