Krishan tops at Kenya Airways Safari Golf qualifier as Kamanda shines in Mumias

There are special people who make special contribution to someone’s life and for Sarna Krishan the winner of the final Kenya Airways Safari Golf qualifier; this special person is the club’s resident professional James Lorum.

Krishan, playing off handicap 24, resisted stiff challenge from a large field of at least 160 players to emerge the overall winner of the KQ Golf Safari and immediately attributed the feat to James Lorum who helped him hone his skills.

The player carded a total of 44 points and will be leading the team from Nakuru to the Grand Finale set for Saturday at the Windsor Golf and Country Club.

Chris Kamau, playing off handicap 22, was the overall runner-up on 42 points and in the process also booked a ticket to the finale, so was handicap 18 Thomas Chege who finished third after losing to Kamau on countback. Chege also posted 42 points.

In the team category, Jimmy Manyara teamed up with David Maingi, Authur Nderitu and George Munyao to emerge the winners on a total of 40 stable ford points.

Lady winner

The runner-up team comprised Njoro’s Josiah Ruto, Francis Njoroge, Chris Kamau and A Kipkemei who posted a total of 39 stable ford points.

Miriam Wanjiku was the lady winner on 30 stable, while Viren Gudka was the junior winner on 30 stable ford points. Oscar Koitaba won the guest prize on 33 stable ford points.

The ladies longest drive title went to Josephine Kaime, while Lisher Malik won the men’s longest drive prize.

In Limuru, veteran lady golfer Mary Karano, playing off handicap six, posted 76 gross to win the Silver Division of the Limuru Ladies open sponsored by Kenya Orient Insurance at the weekend.

Handicap nine M Nzioka was second on 79 gross, while international youngster Naomi Wafula, playing off handicap five, was third on 80 gross.

Pivotal role

Issa Maina, playing off handicap 21, won the Bronze Division on 90 gross and she was followed in the second position by handicap 25 A, Nyakio on 94 gross and J, Ngure, playing off handicap 24 was third on 94 gross.

K Echaria, playing off handicap 20, was the silver net winner on 69 nett and handicap 29 N Githere was the bronze nett winner on 65 nett. M Wairimu, teaming up with JG Waweru, won the mixed foursomes on 36 points, while the longest drive prize went to Jane Njoroge and A Mululu had the nearest to the pin.

In Mumias, W Kamanda emerged the overall winner of the Inspirations Management Consultants Golf Day after posting 40 points. E Makori was the runner-up on 39 points after beating Patrick Amakombe on count back, forcing Amakombe to third position with 39 points as well.
