The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (Nock) and its affiliates will make another attempt at passing a new constitution when they reconvene for an extra-ordinary meeting today.

The meeting comes three weeks after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said it would not take any further action against the local body for not passing a new constitution.

At its meeting on March 15, the IOC board, however, said it would maintain a financial freeze on Nock until progress is made on adoption of a new constitution.

"The IOC EB noted with disappointment that your NOC failed to adopt its revised Constitution at its meeting on March 7, 2017.

"However, the IOC EB welcomed the recent positive developments, as mentioned in your letter dated March 14 2017, in particular the firm commitment from your NOC to rectify the situation and the Resolution signed by the members of your NOC Executive Committee to support the adoption of this revised Constitution at its next Extraordinary General Assembly already re-convened by your NOC on March 28, 2017," said a letter from IOC.

The IOC added that the reform process agreed between itself, Nock and the government must be completed according to the road map lined out.

"The IOC will continue to closely monitor the completion of the entire process –including the adoption of the revised NOC Constitution, as a first step and the holding of your NOC Elective General Assembly, as a second step –in accordance with the road map established in September 2016," the IOC wrote.

Kenya was staring at a ban from IOC after Nock executive members ganged up to shoot down a proposal to pass the negotiated constitution.

The move drew the wrath of IOC, who announced that they have suspended their funding to Nock.

Nock's Secretary General F. K Paul said today's meeting would adopt a new constitution by acclamation.
