Why Women are creating fake social media accounts to test their boyfriends

Online love trap could leave you lonely

The internet is the bane of our existence! I have written about catfishes before, whereby people create fake social media accounts mainly to scam others out of their money. But women are creating fake social media accounts for another, equally devious, reason: to test their boyfriends’ loyalty to them. Many girlfriends are choosing to catfish their boyfriends to see if they would stray. All you have to do is create a pseudo social media account of an attractive woman, then send him flirtatious and seductive messages using that account to see how he responds. I can’t even begin to tell you what a horrible idea this is.

A friend of mine catfished her boyfriend and it backfired horribly. My friend Lucy was worried about her boyfriend Tom’s Instagram habits. Tom was following a lot of the so-called ‘Instagram models’ and socialite wannabes and Lucy wasn’t too thrilled about that. She had confronted him about this before and he had maintained that it wasn’t a big deal because he was just appreciating beauty and would never cheat on her. Lucy was not convinced. She went on Instagram and created a fake profile of a woman named Rachel. Lucy created Rachel in a way that she knew Tom would not resist. Rachel was light-skinned, petite and stunningly gorgeous. She actually lifted the photos of an actual model that resides in a different country.
