Boxer dies four days after being knocked out

17th October, 2019

American boxer Patrick Day died on Wednesday (October 16) days after sustaining a critical brain injury during his USBA Super-Welterweight fight on Saturday (October 12) with Charles Conwell.

Day's promoter, Lou DiBella, released a statement announcing the death of the 27 year-old, paying tribute to the fighter who won two Nationals at amateur level before a professional career of 17-4-1 with six knockouts pushed him into the top 10 ratings of both the WBC and IBF.

Day is the fourth boxer to die due to a boxing fight in the past three months following Russian Maxim Dadashev, Argentine Hugo Santillan and Bulgarian Boris Stanchov.
