How did huge consignment of contraband sugar enter Kenya? | The Big Story

20th June, 2018

Tonight, 4 cabinet secretaries have been summoned  by a joint committee of the national assembly over the sugar importation scandal. The four, Fred Matiang’i. Mwangi Kiunjuri, Henry Rotich and Adan Mohamed will be grilled alongside other individuals who are being treated as persons of interest in the ongoing crackdown on alleged contraband sugar.

But even as the four prepare to face members of parliament, division in government over the sugar scandal continues to run deep. Just few moments ago, industrialization CS Adan Mohamed has dismissed claims by inspector general of police Joseph Boinnet and interior CS Fred Matiangi that sugar nabbed by detectives was found to have been mixed with mercury and lead. In the morning government spokesperson Erick

Kiraithe dismissed sentiments express by MPs on the floor of the house on Tuesday as mare noise meant to defeat the war on contrabands. Kiraithe opens the big story tonight.
