Tonight, 4 cabinet secretaries have been summoned by a joint committee of the national assembly over the sugar importation scandal. The four, Fred Matiang’i. Mwangi Kiunjuri, Henry Rotich and Adan Mohamed will be grilled alongside other individuals who are being treated as persons of interest in the ongoing crackdown on alleged contraband sugar.
But even as the four prepare to face members of parliament, division in government over the sugar scandal continues to run deep. Just a few moments ago, industrialization CS Adan Mohamed has dismissed claims by the inspector general of police Joseph Boinnet and interior CS Fred Matiangi that sugar nabbed by detectives was found to have been mixed with mercury and lead.
