Eric Omondi’s brother dead after long struggle with drug addiction

19th June, 2018

The family of Eric Omondi is mourning today, following the death of the comedian’s elder brother, Joseph Omondi.

Joseph – who has reportedly struggled with drug addiction for years – died Monday in Nairobi, sources close to the family say.

The sad new broke just hours after the comedian posted a video featuring his brother on social media, opening up about Joseph’s struggles.

“Joseph has struggled with drug addiction since high school... He has been in and out of rehabilitation. We have tried our best as a family. Because of his addiction he has a tendency to run away from us to avoid rehabilitation,” wrote Eric.

In the somber post, the funnyman asked his fans not to dabble in drugs – using his brother’s experience as a cautionary tale.

“If you are reading this na uko High school ama colle na ushaanza kuonja hizo vitu jua tu kuna time hautaweza kulala bila hizo vitu,” Eric warned, adding that Joseph was scheduled to go back to rehab soon.

His brother passed on just hours after the post.
