News : New government spokesman appointed
26th November, 2012
President Mwai Kibaki has appointed Muthui Kariuki, to be the new government spokesman. Muthui, formerly a media and communications advisor to vice president Kalonzo Musyoka replaces Alfred Mutua, who resigned in September this year to pursue political ambitions. The position of government spokesman was created under the Kibaki regime to transmit information from the government to the public and Alfred Mutua was the first to be named to the post. Mutua was however routinely accused of speaking only on behalf of the PNU side of the coalition. It remains unclear whether Muthui will speak for both sides of the grand coalition especially now that the campaign period is well underway.
