Sakaja Fires Mosiria Days After He Declares 2027 Nairobi Governor Bid

22nd October, 2026

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has dismissed Geoffrey Mosiria as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, appointing Zipporah Mwangi in an acting capacity to replace him.

The changes, announced on Wednesday by Nairobi County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Machel Waikenda, come days after Mosiria declared his intention to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

Mosiria’s dismissal follows a period of public exchanges between him and Sakaja, with their differences drawing attention as political realignments ahead of the 2027 polls begin to take shape.
