Peter Theuri's Bio

Peter Theuri is a multimedia journalist with The Standard Group PLC. He is a business reporter who has written extensively, on both The Standard and The Nairobian newspaper, on financial markets, small and medium enterprises, manufacturing, corporates and real estate. He is also part of the business team for KTN News.
Theuri has also worked with the sports desk as part of a team analyzing football matches on KTN News and on Radio Maisha.
The journalism career for Theuri began in the most unusual of ways in late 2019; he is a graduate of Geospatial Engineering from The University of Nairobi. Having had a lifelong interest in writing, Theuri participated writing competitions while in school, winning The Writers’ Guild and Yours2read’s national short story competition twice in a row. He also won the annual The Student Engineer magazine (a production by the school of engineering) best article award in 2019.
For his love of writing, Theuri joined the newsroom immediately after graduating from the school of engineering and has taken courses with The Voice of America (VoA), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ), ABSA, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Ecobank to hone his reporting skills.
He has also published in different magazines including The Kalahari Review, the Surveyor’s Journal (by Institution of Surveyors of Kenya), Workplace Chronicles and Careerspot magazine. He has also published a book that sells on Amazon, The Golden Eggs. At the Standard Group, he has won two individual accolades.
Theuri has been an adjudicator in children’s festivals a couple of years.
In spite of his love for journalism and over 1,200 bylines accumulated over 2 years at The Standard Newspaper, Theuri remains greatly interested in science. He loves astrophysics and is good in remote sensing, engineering surveying and geo-information systems (GIS). He is a part-time teacher of Physics and History.
