The incoming secretary-general of the East African Community Dr. Peter Mathuki has promised to bring together all the member states of the EAC and work on a joint plan on how to revive the economy of the 6 countries and create job opportunities given the global disruption by the covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Mathuki who assumed office today in Arusha Tanzania argued that it is high time for member states to develop their own capacity in the production of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics that are affordable and that meet the required global standards. And as Chris their reports, dr. Mathuki has promised to create a conducive business environment, by eliminating non?tariff barriers and adopting business?friendly legal regimes in the region in order to ensure the free flow of essential goods and services.
