Ktn News has uncovered a damning money trail report linking the Kenya Women Teachers Association to a suspected multi-million shilling scheme targeting more than 150,000 female teachers nationwide.
The investigation alleges that, in collusion with the Teachers Service Commission, millions of shillings are deducted from teachers’ salaries, routed through a government account, and later withdrawn under questionable circumstances by Kewota officials.
At the centre of the scandal is Kewota CEO Benter Opande, who is reportedly under investigation by state agencies over alleged money laundering. She also faces accusations of nepotism, with claims that several of her children have been employed within the association.
A whistleblower working closely with the CEO has revealed how the operation allegedly worked, including claims that millions were paid to officials at the Kenya Revenue Authority and TSC to sustain the illegal deductions.
