Political tensions emerge as political power plays takeover Raila Odinga's farewell

Now, even as the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was laid to rest, the air was thick with political undertones. As leaders took to the podium, it became evident that the funeral had morphed into a stage for subtle power plays and shifting political alliances. ODM legislators members of the party that Odinga led for decades — used the solemn occasion to express their readiness to work with President William Ruto under the broad-based government framework that Odinga himself had helped to shape. But as Chris Thairu reports, beneath the public display of unity lies a growing fault line. With individual ambitions now beginning to take center stage, the cohesion of the ODM party once held firmly together by Odinga’s formidable influence faces its greatest test yet.
