Fate of Kenyan police in Haiti unknown after UN backs gang suppression

The fate of Kenyan police officers in Haiti remains unknown, hours after the United Nations Security Council authorized a multinational gang suppression force and established a UN support office in the country.

This development comes as the multinational security support mission, led by Kenya in Haiti, lapses. Speaking to the media during a briefing on the upcoming police recruitment, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said the National Police Service has yet to receive official communication from the National Security Council regarding the next steps.
