Forty-seven Kenyans have returned home after fleeing escalating xenophobic attacks in South Africa, recounting harrowing experiences of targeted violence, looting and the loss of their livelihoods. Many of the returnees arrived traumatised and are now facing the challenge of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
According to the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, 240 more Kenyans remain in Pretoria awaiting evacuation as the government continues efforts to facilitate their safe return.
