June Protests Loom! Linda Mwananchi Announces Mass Action

20th April, 2026

Political tensions are escalating across the country after the Linda Mwananchi Movement announced plans to lead nationwide protests in June in honour of victims of the Gen Z demonstrations that took place two years ago. The movement says the planned demonstrations will push for justice, accountability, and recognition of those who lost their lives during the unrest.

At the same time, divisions within the ODM have deepened after Siaya Governor James Orengo declared himself the party’s new leader, accusing nominated Senator Oburu Odinga of failing to provide clear direction.

The latest developments point to growing internal party rifts and a widening national political debate, with analysts warning that the combination of protests and party leadership disputes could further heighten the country’s political temperature in the coming months.
