Nairobi Hospital Crisis Deepens as Powerful Names Surface in Leadership Wrangles

17th March, 2026

Four directors of the Nairobi Hospital have been released on a Sh5 million personal bond each after pleading not guilty to charges of conflict of interest and document falsification. The officials, including Board Chairman Dr. Job Obwaka, Vice Chairman Samson Kinyanjui, and directors Chris Bichage and Valarie Akinyi, were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts following a dramatic weekend arrest by DCI officers. The prosecution alleges that the directors were involved in the loss of Sh8 million at the facility, specifically citing the receipt of millions from an insurance agency contracted by the hospital.
