NEWS

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba's former partner Prisca Mwaro died at her Nairobi home on Wednesday.

Mwaro's body was found in her house and later moved by the family to the MP Shah Hospital morgue. It was not immediately clear what caused her death.

"We're still seeking to establish what led to the death of our loved one, Prisca. We are yet to get answers for quite a number of questions," said a close family member, who confirmed the news to our sister publication, Standard Digital, but requested to remain unidentified.

People close to her said she had "gone through a lot in the last three years".

"She might have given up the fight," her close friend, who spoke to The Standard on condition of anonymity, said.

Mwaro and Namwamba had three children. She worked as an administrator at Kengen since 2010, and regularly posted and reshared Kengen content on her social media pages.

Mwaro had a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Human Resources) from the University of Nairobi, where she studied between 2013 and 2015.

She celebrated her birthday on Tuesday. During their marriage, Namwamba and Mwaro used to during various parts of the world together as they ate life with a big spoon. For instance, on May 5, 2015, she accompanied him to Iceland where he met President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson.

The politician did not go alone and was accompanied by his wife.

On arrival, she posted a photo of them together and captioned it with a heartwarming message.

"To Ababu Namwamba, things you have done to help and support me have become immeasurable. Thank you for supporting my dream, for telling me that what I want is possible, and thank you for all the sacrifices you have made to see me reach my goals"

Ababu had also posted a photo of them outside the historic Taj Mahal in India.
