Ugandan businesswoman drags former governor Patrick Khaemba to court over child upkeep

While serving as an employee of the Africa Development Bank AfDB in Uganda, former Trans-Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba reportedly got into a romantic relationship with a native, a relationship which has now landed him in trouble. The union between Khaemba and Kampala-based businesswoman led to the birth of a minor named GA, aged nine.
The businesswoman has however dragged the former governor to court over the neglect of the child.

The relationship between the duo, according to a court document, was between 2011 and 2013. In an affidavit, she claims she cohabited with Khaemba both in Kampala, Uganda, and Trans Nzoia County, Kenya. Out of the union, the two were blessed with a girl. Khaemba served as the first governor of Trans Nzoia County in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017.
According to court documents filed by the businesswoman, after the child was born in 2013, the former governor refused to provide for her upkeep.
She is now seeking the help of the court to order Khaemba to pay Sh236,000 per month for the maintenance and upkeep of the child pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
Through lawyer John Bororio, the Kampala-based businesswoman claims that since 2013, she has been reaching the Khaemba to contribute towards the child's maintenance and upkeep, but he has been giving empty promises.
