President William Ruto will this evening leave the country for a four-day trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Korea.

In a statement by StateHouse spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the president will start his trip with a day's visit to DRC.

"Kenya is playing a crucial role as a member of the East African Community in support of the 'Nairobi Peace Process', that involves talks between the government of DRC and the armed groups in the Eastern part of the country to restore peace and security in the region." Hussein's statement reads in part.

At DRC, he is expected to meet President Felix Tshisekedi and hold bilateral talks on security in Eastern Congo, regional integration, trade and investments, and other areas of mutual interest.

He will then leave the new EAC member state tomorrow Monday, November 21.

After that, he will proceed to South Korea (Republic of Korea) for a three-day official visit.

In South Korea, he is expected to meet and hold talks with President Yoon Suk-Yeol.

Over the three days, he plans to explore partnerships in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and public health as well as a possible signing of trade agreements between the two states.

"Kenya will also advance negotiations to open markets for her exports as part of growing bilateral trade. Kenya and the Republic of Korea enjoy cordial ties founded on common values, mutual trust, and benefit," Hussein added.
