After years in the making, Bmixx finally releases high-energy anthem 'This Is It'

Kenyan hip-hop heavyweight Bmixx has kicked off 2025 with a fiery new single and music video, This Is It—a track he describes as a “rallying call” for self-belief and relentless hustle.

Initially drafted in 2021 as a stage anthem, the song blends high-energy lyricism inspired by Eminem and NF with Swahili-English fluency, marking his evolution as a wordsmith.

Bmixx revealed that This Is It sat unfinished for years until producer Depo Dice helped record it for his X Vibes Mixtape, which later became The X Vibes EP after he was named Boomplay Rising Star (2024), amassing over 70K streams on Boomplay.

The EP, a four-track project, featured heavy hitters like The Masseuse and AY, but This Is It, among others, was not yet ready for release.

At the beginning of the year, he teased upcoming tracks and assured fans that This Is It was the one. He and his team later prioritised its release, pairing it with a minimalist yet gripping video shot in a single take at NMK Studios.

Directed by Ian Wang’oma and edited by Bmixx himself, the video’s raw, colour-shifting aesthetic mirrors the song’s adrenaline-pumping intensity. “No distractions—just pure energy,” said Bmixx.

The track showcases Bmixx’s growth, with seamless Swahili-English flows and razor-sharp delivery. “It’s about owning your moment,” he explained, urging listeners to “stop waiting and go all out.”

On the pipeline are other projects he has teased, including collaborations with Hanta the Samurai (Dangerous) and Depo Dice (Mr. Candyman), plus a dancehall-inspired track. He will also feature on Krugar’s album Gushology.
