FKF/KPL in league talks

A committee to work on modalities of financing an expanded Kenyan Premier League (KPL) has been formed.

The committee is made up of representatives from KPL and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and will sit today. This was the resolution of Joint Executive Committee (JEC) meeting.

FKF chairman Nick Mwendwa said the team will look at what the KPL presented. “We had a fruitful meeting during which KPL presented what they believe is what is needed financially if we are to have an expanded league. We have formed a small committee to look at the figure and come up with what is reasonable and then FKF will undertake the same," he said.

He added: “On Monday we should present the same at the Sports Tribunal as ordered.” Apart from Mwendwa, other FKF representatives in the meeting were Doris Petra and Chris Amimo. KPL was represented by Ambrose Rachier, Bob Munro and James Musyoki.

Meanwhile, two clubs relegated for failing to get a licence have lodged an appeal with the federation. Thika United and Muhoroni Youth sent their appeals. Sofapaka were also relegated for the same reason.
