A flight carrying Russian football fans to Manchester for Tuesday's clash had to divert to Denmark to eject drunken passengers.

The Easyjet Sunday service from Moscow, was forced to land at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark at 3.15pm amid reports one CSKA Moscow supporter had taken too much drink and had started pushing staff on board.

It was met by Danish police who are reported to have taken the pickled passenger away.

But just before take-off the plane was delayed again - when pals of the ejected supporter complained about his treatment and were also kicked off the flight.

It delayed the remaining 146 passengers on board by over an hour.

An easyJet spokesman said: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY1872 flying from Moscow Domodedovo to Manchester on November 3 diverted to Copenhagen airport due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board. One passenger was immediately offloaded on arrival.

"Unfortunately, prior to take off, it was necessary for the captain to take the decision to offload a further six passengers.

"The aircraft then continued towards Manchester where it landed with a short delay."

He added: "The safety and welfare of its passengers and crew is easyJey's highest priority and easJet would like to thank the passengers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Danish website tv2.dk reported that all six booked new flights to Manchester ahead of this evening's 7.45pm kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.
