Champions League: Arsenal V Olympiakos

TEAM NEWS

Arsenal could be without Mikel Arteta for Wednesday's visit of Champions League Group B rivals Olympiakos.

The 30-year-old Spanish midfielder has an ankle injury and will have a fitness test on the morning of the match.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will need another "two or three weeks" to recover from an ankle problem of his own.

Midfielder Abou Diaby is out for three weeks with a thigh strain that saw him limp out of Saturday's loss to Chelsea.

Fellow midfielder Tomas Rosicky remains sidelined with an Achilles injury he suffered at Euro 2012.

Right-back Bacary Sagna has returned to full training but is yet to be considered for selection having not played since 5 May, when he suffered a broken leg against Norwich.

Jack Wilshere played his first match in 14 months on Monday, a 63-minute outing against West Brom in the Under-21 Premier League.

"He came through it all right," Wenger said of the 20-year-old midfielder. "There was no reaction.

"We are pleased but it is now down to taking the right time to ease him slowly back. We are all very happy. He must be exceptionally happy, but he has been out for 14 months."

Arsenal started their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win at Montpellier with Olympiakos losing 2-1 at home to Schalke.

The Gunners also faced in the Greeks in last season's group stage last year - winning 2-1 at home, but losing 3-1 away.

"Olympiakos are already in a position where their backs are to the wall because they have lost at home and in this Champions League when you lose at home it is very difficult," said Wenger.

"They are highly motivated to know they have to give everything to make it through. They are experienced and basically it is the same team [as it was] at the back of last season.

"I think they had a difficult start against Marseille and after became stronger and stronger through the competition last year.

"It looks similar this year - they had a difficult start at home against Schalke and if you analyse their team it is 90% the same as last season."
