State website updated on the hour

A minute after Barack Obama was officially sworn-in the US President, the official White House website was updated.

This is in contrast to Kenya where the official Government website is yet to be updated, following the re-organisation of Government last May.

Obama’s website content was updated on Tuesday night at exactly 8.01pm (Kenyan time), hosting information on the new administration.

Visitors to the site were welcomed with the message, "Change has come to the White House…"

There was little mention of former President George Bush and his wife Laura.

Only their profiles remained listed, in a page listing all former US presidents and their wives.

Current photographs and names of new officials of the Obama era replaced those of the Bush administration.

There was also a polite notice telling readers to wait for unavailable information.

In contrast, the official site of the Kenya Public Communications department still hosts outdated information, according to a check done Wednesday.
