Simlaw Seeds Company launches online shopping platform

Simlaw Seeds Company has launched its E- commerce platform for online shoppers. The platform will have both Kenya Seed and Simlaw Seeds Products.

In a statement on Monday, Kenya Seed's communication chief Jane Gitau said the online shop will ease the buying of products to customers both in Kenya and internationally.

"The event has been officiated by the Ag Group Managing Director Fred Oloibe after the use of the online shop internally to test its viability."

Also present at the launch at Simlaw Corner at Michuki Park were local chief Julius Wanjau, head of Nairobi Conservation Francis Kariuki and head of Dryland Forestry Dr Clement Ngoriareng. Simlaw has the mandate to manage that section of the Park.

Simlaw Seeds Company is a subsidiary of Kenya Seed Company, founded in 1929, making it one of the oldest seed companies in the East African region.

It is renowned for supplying ‘Superior and Reliable Seeds’ to farmers.

Gitau said over the years of its operations, Simlaw Seeds has managed to maintain its position as a market leader by collaborating with partners across the world, being in constant touch with all its stakeholders as well as investing in research and development.

"Simlaw Seeds Company continues to play a major role in the agricultural sector in the East Africa region through strategic partnerships, engaging in relevant research, extension services and introduction of products into the market that are geared towards increasing food sufficiency."

Kenya Seed Company Ltd is a parastatal incorporated in Kenya on July 2, 1956. The company produces and markets top certified quality seeds. The company has seed of more than 60 different crops varieties ranging from maize, wheat, upland rice, pasture, sunflower, sorghum, millet and a wide range of horticultural seed and indigenous vegetables suitable for different agro-ecological zones.

"Our seed varieties are availed to farmers throughout the country and the region by our network of stockists, branches in Kenya, subsidiaries (Simlaw Uganda, Kibo Seed Tanzania and Kenya Seed Rwanda) in the region".
