Joint trade fair to empower farmers

Embu County will hold an international agriculture trade fair to equip farmers in the region with modern skills at the end of this month.

The one-day expo is a partnership between the Israeli Embassy and University of Embu.

"Embu County will then be a centre of education for bettering agriculture and showcasing agricultural technology," said Arnon Arbel, Head of Economic Mission, Embassy of Israel, during a meeting in Embu.

The trade fair, which will be held at the Embu University grounds on January 28, will bring together different stakeholders in agriculture sector, companies and experts.

Modern farming

Embu County Governor Martin Wambora has called on all stakeholders and youth to come out in large numbers and learn how they can apply modern technology to farming.

Mr Wambora encouraged youth to venture into modern farming and agribusiness to earn a living.

The Israeli Embassy will then connect Embu farmers to Israeli farmers and investors to help local farmers build capacity.

Companies which have already confirmed participation in the trade fair include Start Up Nation Central from Israel, Amiran Kenya, Beauty Line Farm, Danziger and Eshet Eilon.

Agriculture Executive Jamleck Muturi said Embu County Government was working round-the-clock to make Embu food secure.
