Over 2,700 fish farmers have been given nets and liners to help them increase production.

The equipment was donated to the farmers by International Fund for Agricultural Development through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in a programme that also seeks to develop efficient fish value chains.

Speaking during the distribution at the county headquarters in Kakamega town on Tuesday, the ministry's Chief Administrative Secretary Chebii Kilimo said the programme also seeks to expand the local and international market of fish farmers from the county, adding that more than 13 counties have been earmarked for this project.
