Kenya National Farmers Federation (KENAFF) and agriBORA have partnered to use technology and data innovations to make farming more efficient, grow more food and increase productivity and income for farmers.

Dr Daniel M'Mailutha, CEO KENAFF says the economy heavily depends on agriculture which can be enhanced with the use of latest technologies. In the partnership, the over 1 million farmer members spread in 43 counties will start using technologies provided by agriBORA.

"We believe that we have technologies which farmers can leverage and promote their enterprises to do better. By embracing technology, they have more money in their pockets to not only take care of their interests with their families, but also to pay membership," he says.

Dr M'Mailutha is optimistic, farmers who embrace technologies become attractive to institutions and service providers offering credit and insurance. On his part, Kizito Odhiambo, Founder and CEO, agriBORA says his technology is looking at ways to enable smallholder farmers be self-sufficient and create impact.

"We have the technology that farmers can leverage and disrupt hunger, poverty and the entire farming ecosystem so that we do not have to continue struggling to feed ourselves. As company, we cannot do this alone, so we need partners and the opportunity to sign an MoU and work with KENAFF will help us create impact that can be felt, not just in Kenya, but across the continent," he says.

Kizito explains one of their tech products is agri hub, a digitally enabled grassroots business. "You can easily register, access, interact and ultimately transact with farmers, as it is very simple for a farmer to register within agri hub and start receiving free services such as bi weekly weather messages that helps them plan their events such as when to plant and when to apply fertiliser." agriBORA which started in 2021, is working with over 35,000 smallholder farmers using the platform for interaction and communication with service providers.
