For the last three hours, there has been a lot of confusion among Kenyans, over the final tally of votes from the Kiambu Constituency.

This was after media reports emerged indicating that the commission had corrected 10, 000 votes erroneously awarded to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate William Ruto.

However, the commission has since denied any wrongdoing.

"Ruto William is 41,050, there is nowhere we added 10,000 to any of the candidates. I hope this is clear and will be corrected." commissioner Nyang'aya said.

Journalists present at the Bomas of Kenya, which is the national tallying centre, have told The Standard that IEBC commissioner Justus Nyang'aya had in fact read William Ruto's votes as 51, 050.

While reading the results, Nyang'aya said the total registered voters in Kiambu Constituency were 87, 076 but the valid votes cast were 56, 546 with only 392 rejected ballots.

He went on to report to the public that Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga had 14, 860 votes, and David Mwaura and George Wajackoyah had 318 votes each.

This exceeded the number of valid votes cast by about 10, 000 votes, an issue which was raised by one of the journalists.

When put to task, the commissioner corrected the initial votes he had announced and said it was 41, 050.

The commissioner also clarified that Raila Odinga's votes showed 14, 760 in Form B but had been corrected in Form C.
