Conditioners for your hair

By Tony Airo

Conditioner is a product used to close the hair shaft and to untangle the hair. On short hair it is a good moisturiser for the scalp. This means that after every shampoo, you must condition the hair.

There are different types of hair conditioners:

Protein conditioner

This type is not common in our market but for those who have access to it, it has to be well rinsed especially on the hairline, otherwise the hair will break. When hair is dry, you can rinse and massage the scalp or go under the drier for a few minutes. This type of conditioner is best for dry hair or breaking hair.

Moisturising conditioner

With this conditioner, you do not have to go under the drier, just massage the scalp and hair and rinse off. It helps untangle hair and allow for a smooth massage.

Reconstruction conditioners

These conditioners are normally found on the relaxer kits. This is mainly because the kits are for home use and if you do the relaxing at home, the possibility of over-processing the hair is high. You should therefore use the rebuilder to give hair whatever it has lost.

Leave-in conditioners

This type is put it on hair before applying a setting lotion. The hair is then styled as usual. Always use the leave-in conditioner after a chemical process or colour.

Facts about conditioners
