Zendaya has hit out at backlash against her divisive drama film Malcolm and Marie. The Spider-Man: Far From Home actress, 24, starred in and produced the romantic drama which was released on Netflix earlier this month. Speaking to The New York Times, Zendaya addressed the criticisms directed at the film, including the 12-year age gap between herself and 36-year-old leading man John David Washington.
On the age-gap in the relationship portrayed in the film, the actress said: "I'm Marie’s age, and I think that dynamic, their age difference, is part of their story: She met him when she was in recovery [at] 20 years old. She never really loved anyone or thought someone loved her the way he did."
