Why Embu County could be safe haven for warogi

The proposal to remove a tax provision for the traditional health services could see an uncontrollable mushrooming of witchcraft dens in the county.

The Embu County Assembly has proposed a waiver of licence fees for traditional healers due to the challenges in collecting such money. If implemented, the move could make Embu a ‘tax haven’ for witch doctors and sorcerers (warogi).

The proposal was made by the Assembly’s Finance and Economic Planning Committee.
