It is now emerging that Luv Music Entertainment group which had entered a deal with Hamilton Gulf International to bring American R&B sensation Jagged Edge and Blackstreet was not convinced the promoter would honour the terms of the contract.
Sources told MondayBlues that the tour which was to start in Chi Club, Dubai, then hold weekend concerts in Tanzania and Kenyan was cancelled on the eleventh hour due to what Luv Music Entertainment termed as ‘unforeseen uncertainties’ (not the influenza outbreak as some reports had claimed).
The planned tour did not attract the anticipated sponsors neither did it receive enough media hype due to the short notice — something which made the singers’ managers question the competence of Hamilton Gulf International which is run by Hassan Mwadzaya, a Dubai-based Kenyan promoter. On Wednesday evening, the promoter, speaking from Dubai confirmed the show, which was to be held in Nairobi last Saturday had been cancelled. He did not give any details. But a letter containing the concert’s terms of contract between the two organisations — which we obtained — outlined conditions that Hamilton Gulf International might have found hard to abide by. It is not clear whether the promoter had paid the 50 percent deposit demanded by the artistes four weeks ago. Luv Music Entertainment had made it clear that all the basic arrangements which also stipulated that the promoter pays for all local transport from airport to hotel and vice versa as well as flights for five people from the US and back must be made weeks before the show.
Lawyer and clandestine lover busted by paparazzi
A popular flamboyant Nairobi lawyer was forced to abandon his evening date with a celebrated media girl after paparazzi busted the two in an uptown hotel. The two, whose steamy love affair has been a guarded secret were having dinner at a prestigious Upperhill hotel when one of the waiters tipped paparazzi that the two were there. The waiter had previously indicated that the couple often visited the hotel and enjoyed romantic weekends away from public glare. When the paparazzi arrived at the hotel (on Saturday 10pm) the two who were having a hearty talk over drinks spotted them and in panic hastily left in the lawyer’s state-of-the-art car.
They did not even take time to clear their bill. Sources within the hotel disclosed that the lawyer — a married man — had booked one of the hotel rooms for the night. And since then, he and his clandestine lover have been calling, warning of dire consequences should we expose them. Well, there goes the radio drama queen again.
