PSG superstar linked with shock move to Man Utd- Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly joined the queue to sign him

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani

Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly made offers to sign Paris-Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at PSG at the end of the season and looks certain to leave the Parc de Princes on a free transfer rather than sign an extension.

PSG are determined to keep hold of Cavani until the summer, with top clubs queuing up to try and land him in the summer.

United and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Cavani, as well as Atletico Madrid, who are favourites to sign the striker.

But Arsenal have also joined the race, with the Gunners and United among the clubs who have already made offers to Cavani, according to El Chiringuito via Metro .

United had made signing a centre-forward a priority in the January transfer window, and missed out on top target Erling Haaland when the 19-year-old Norwegian left Red Bull Salzburg for Borussia Dortmund.

New boss Arsenal Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, may need to add to his forward options as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to attract attention from elsewhere, with the Gunners languishing in 10th place in the Premier League - nine points off a top-four spot.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed to haul his side up to fifth in the table, but they are still five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

And a lack of Champions League football for either club would be a major disadvantage in the race to sign Cavani, who has scored 198 goals for French champions PSG.

Atletico look to be in pole position to sign the striker having already tabled a pre-contract agreement.

Cavani is keen to join up with Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital, but the deal remains unsigned at this stage.
