The enduring rivalry between the two main teachers’ trade unions intensified after Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) sought to change its constitution to allow it ‘poach’ members of the bigger Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut).
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has also been sucked into the membership row that has seen the unions tussle over some 4,000 members, each claiming ‘ownership’.
