Kenya Highlands Seed made a good start after they defeated Jaguar Petroleum 6.5-3 as the Ndume Christmas Tournament hits-off at Manyatta Polo Club on Saturday in Gilgil.

Different penalties were the order of the day for both teams in the four chukka match that saw Craig Millar emerge as the top scorer with a total of five goals for The Kenya Highlands Seed.

Millar scored three in the second chukka, one in third and two in the final chukka after Simon Muchene had opened the scores in the first chukka from the efforts of inform Amani Nzomo and his sister Hiromi Nzomo.

Hiromi scored the final goal for the winners in the fourth chukka in the six-goal match.

Millar said teamwork between them made it easier for him to score the five goals.

"Teamwork between the four of us made it easier for me to score the five goals. I must also thank Amani and Hiromi (Nzomo,) for ensuring we scored through provision of good assists", Millar told Standard Sports.

Handicap 2 Ben Stonewigg scored a double for his Jaguar Petroleum, one in the second chukka and the other in the final chukka.

Vishal Somaia had increased the tally in the second chukka after Stonewigg's first goal.

The second match of the same tournament saw Crown Paints win 6-4 against Mascor in a tough match that Kimoi Moi said poor execution cost them the match.

"We had a fair start but poor finishing cost us the match dearly. Will approach next matches soberly after the loss and it'll not distract us anyway," said Kimoi who played for Mascor.

Mascor had led 2-1 by the end of first chukka.

Cheza Millar who played for Crown Paints said the victory has boosted their morale ahead of their match against Jaguar Petroleum on Sunday.

"The match was pretty good but the win gives a better advantage ahead of today and tomorrow's matches," said Cheza.
