Eight soldiers injured in an IED attack - Lamu County

The eight soldiers are recuperating at the Manda Base Hospital. 

Eight Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers on patrol have been injured after their lorry ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Baure area of Lamu County.

Confirming the incident, KDF through a press statement stated that the injured were later airlifted to Manda Base Hospital for medical care.

"KDF condemns the criminals who disrupt movement, and sabotage socio-economic stability in the area. Further, KDF calls upon the residents to share information with the security agencies on these criminal elements who lurk in their communities," the statement read in part.

A Kenya Army technical vehicle was also destroyed during the Sunday evening incident.
