Four people died on the spot and scores of others were seriously injured following a grisly road accident involving three cars along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

During the Sunday morning incident near Marula farm in Naivasha, a personal vehicle rammed head on into an incoming bus and another personal car killing all the four occupants.

Four other people in the second personal car were left nursing serious injuries while the occupants of the bus escaped with minor injuries.

According to Naivasha OCPD Benjamin Boen, the personal car that was heading to Nairobi from Nakuru was to blame for the 2am incident.

He said that the driver was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when he rammed into the bus that was heading in the opposite direction.

“On impact, the car veered off its lane and hit another personal car that was carrying a family seriously injuring four of them,” he said.

Boen added that all the two men and two women in the car died on the spot while those injured were rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital in critical condition,” he said.

Meanwhile, a suspect nabbed with game meat in Naivasha last month has committed suicide in a bid to avoid going to jail.

The 46-year-old farmer took his life by drinking pesticide a day after informing his friends and kin that he was not ready to face life in prison.

Emotions ran high as the body was found in Nyondia area off the Naivasha-Kirima road after going missing for the last two days.

According to a resident Joel Mwangi, the deceased who was a member of Nyumbi Kumi was arrested last month by KWS officers with game meat.

“He was locked behind bars and taken to court where he was released on cash bail and the case was set for determination before he decided to take his life to avoid jail,” he said.

The OCPD confirmed the incident adding that the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note though he had informed his kin on his plan.

“The investigating officers have opened an inquest file into the incident and the body has since been taken to the Naivasha mortuary,” he said.
