State Department of Housing Secretary Patrick Bucha is the new chairman of the North Imenti Consultative Forum.

Mr Bucha succeeded former Lands cabinet secretary Jacob Kaimenyi, who is leaving for Paris, France, to take up a new role as Kenya’s ambassador to Unesco.

At a farewell party for Prof Kaimenyi yesterday, Bucha said the unity the former CS achieved among the area leaders would prevail.

“We cannot achieve economic and socio-political development in the absence of unity.

My first agenda is to ensure all leaders in North Imenti are speaking in one voice,” said Bucha.

Residents and leaders from North Imenti, including MP Rahim Dawood, thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing Kaimenyi ambassador.

They tasked Bucha to lead the forum’s development agenda. Kaimenyi, who is also the founder of the Ameru Professionals Association, asked Bucha to ensure that North Imenti did not lag behind in development, saying it was the headquarters of Meru County.

“You must use this forum to create opportunities for our youth and other groups," he said. The leaders, who were hosted by the area Njuri Ncheke patron, Washington Muthamia, pledged to develop the area.
