TALK OF THE DAY: Deputy President William Ruto's home attacked by unknown gunmen- what's your say?

  • Deputy President William Ruto's home attacked in his home in Sugoi.
  • DP Ruto had just left home when the attack happened.

It takes 18 hours for our best security men to neutralise a lone gunman? And at the home of the Deputy President? Aren't there enough security officers to tackle one man with a panga? Why do I have a feeling there is more to this than meets the eye? Or the security agencies have no idea about Kenyans' level of intelligence? Omondi Okelo, Nairobi

This a farce. First we were told that it was a bunch of armed thugs who attacked and killed a police officer but were repulsed after three were shot dead, bringing the total body count to four. Next we heard that the same attackers had in fact invaded the home, burnt down one building, and gained access to the armoury. Then the narrative was that a lone knife-wielding man had attacked a policeman. With so many inconsistencies, one can be forgiven for being sceptical about this story. It is not believable that a man armed with a knife can overpower several policemen guarding the VP's home. If it is true, then the Kenya Police Service should answer a lot of questions.
