The body of Justus Murage, who hailed from Kiringiti village in Mwea East sub-county, was found on Monday morning dumped on the banks of Thiba River after an unidentified caller told his friend that he (Murage) was lying there, drunk.

According to the local assistant chief, Kariuki Githiri, the friend received the call in the early hours of Monday morning and informed the police.

A search party that was dispatched to the scene found the man's naked body. The legs were tied with a rope.

"The body had two deep panga cuts on the head and the face appeared to have been hit with a blunt object.

His vehicle, which he used to transport tomatoes to Nairobi, was found in the vicinity," said Mr Githiri.

A kitchen knife was found dumped near 35-year-old Murage's body.
