KPL Round-up: K’ogalo shocked, respite for Tusker as Leopards show resilience

On Sunday Gor Mahia lost the top spot at the SportPesa Premier League after losing 2-1 to Western Stima at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Western Stima came from a goal down thanks to register their first win of the season with goals from Fredrick Shimonyo and Kennedy Otieno in the second half. Jacques Tuyisenge had put Jose Marcelo’s men in front in the 16th minute.

Mombasa-based side, Bandari hopped to the summit of the table with ten points, after thrashing Muhoroni Youth three goals at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Ingwe continued their fine run in the campaign after registering their second win of the season. They are second in the standings with a game at hand after a 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar. Gilbert Fiamenyo and Allan Kateregga scored for the Leopards in the 48th and 67th minute respectively.

Reigning champions Tusker FC needed Shafik Batambuze spot kick against Chemelil Sugar at the stroke of halftime to record their first three points this campaign. It was a reprieve for the Ruaraka-based outfit who had lost both of their opening matches.

Newly-promoted Nakumatt had their first win after a 2-0 away win over Zoo Kericho, who are still pointless this season.
