Mother to televangelist Bishop Pius Muiru was buried amid calls from the family to the police to investigate fully her painful death.

Backed by residents, the family said the murder of Grace Wangari Mwangi, 73, should be investigated in full and the motive behind her killing established.

Her burial at Karega village in Kigumo Constituency was conducted by the Catholic Church where she belonged after her son founded Maximum Miracle Centre in Nairobi.

Bishop Muiru eulogised his mother as a God fearing woman who cared and protected all her children. “She died a painful death but the postmortem that was conducted by a team of professionals led by Dr Jason Oduor revealed she was hit with a blunt object on her head and had bruises, an indication she was strangled to death.

Since she is gone, we as a family can only wait for the police to complete their investigations,” said Muiru.

He said they will follow up this matter. The police are holding her security guard Ezekiel Saitambua and his daughter-in-law Monica Muthoni in connection with the murder following initial investigations that linked them to the tragedy.

The two will appear in court on April 7 this year after the police sought for more time to complete their investigations.
Last week, the police discovered the televangelist’s mother’s body buried in a shallow grave before the two were picked for investigations.
