Germany 1-0 England: Podolski screamer shot aid Germany beat England.

The three lions suffered their first defeat under (permanent)manager Gareth Southgate, thanks to Lukas Podolski’s second-half stunner from outside the box.

Many argue it was the best farewell gift for the former Arsenal striker at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund last night.

Both sides witnessed a number of debutants promoted for senior duties.

Although, this exact fixture last year, England came from behind to win 3-2, thanks to Eric Dier’s stoppage time strike.

In the first half, England was quite dominant with strikes from dele Alli and Adam Lallana being blocked by Germany’s keeper Andre ter Stegen.

In the 69th minute, Podolski ended his career as captain with a spectacular volley, rendering Joe Hart helpless at the goal.

Credits got to Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle with the goal build-up, with the latter laying a wonderful pass to the former Arsenal forward.

Podolski, who has played for FC Koln, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter Milan and currently plays for the Turkey’s side- Galatasaray, hangs the boots after 130 caps and 49 goals, also were key in winning 2014 Word Cup in Brazil.

Each of the teams now shifts focus on World Cup qualifiers this coming weekend. England hosts Lithuania at Wembley while Germany travels to play Azerbaijan.
