I can only sponsor a project, not a human being-Akothee

She’s known for her flamboyance and an ingrained sense of pride only matched by the people from the lakeside region. She’s also touted as the richest musician in Kenya, and recently bagged a continental award for her music. That’s Esther Akoth, aka Akothee.

I am not a hater but her music to me is irrevocably repugnant, so much so that I remember she did a collabo with Diamond Platnumz, where the Tanzanian musical kingpin gave a halfhearted performance and another with this musician who has immense distaste for shirts. I only listen to her music only in situations where I have no choice; like matatus, which I am glad rarely plays and social gatherings where you can’t shout at the deejay to change the music. It could be torturous but I have learnt to accept things I can’t change.
