Two die, 26 injured in accident at Kiambaa along Naivasha – Nairobi highway

At least two people were Wednesday morning killed and 26 others injured after a bus they were using was involved in an accident at Kiambaa along Nairobi-Naivasha highway.

The bus was involved in an accident with two trailers, police said.

Police said the bus rammed into a truck causing multiple accidents that involved two other lorries in the incident that happened in Kiambaa area at about 1.30 am.

Police say all the vehicles involved in the accident were traveling in the same direction towards Nairobi. Those who died on the spot included a co-driver and passenger of the bus.

The injured were rushed to the Kikuyu Hospital with multiple injuries.

Elsewhere along Mombasa Road, 18 passengers were injured after a bus they were traveling in overturned near Capital Centre. Seven of them were in critical condition.

Witnesses and police said the driver of the mini-bus lost control before it overturned as it raced towards Embakasi direction.

Nairobi traffic police boss Leonard Katana said the accident happened at about 6 am.

Those injured were rushed to hospital and the driver will be charged with reckless driving.
